29, 2020) - Edward Louis De Yonghe, age 85, of Kingsford passed away at
his home on Friday, December 25.
Ed was born May 27, 1935, in
Norway, the son of Louis and Catherine (Bilski) De Yonghe. After
graduating from Norway High School in 1953, he joined the U.S. Air
Force, serving from 1954 until 1958. He married Marcia Despins on July
25, 1970, at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. A
lifelong resident of the area, Ed worked for the Dickinson-Iron
Intermediate School District for over 20 years as an auto body and
welding teacher and 10 years as a custodian at the Willis Center. He
also worked at the Y.M.C.A for over 5 years. A huge fan of Vince
Lombardi and the Packers, Ed enjoyed gardening and was a member of the
Elks Club and American Martyrs Catholic Church.
He is survived by
his wife, Marcia; daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Van Hammond of Appleton,
Wisconsin, Deanna (Patrick) Goerge of Grand Rapids, and Kristen (Jason)
Audette of Aurora, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Janice (Tim) Goss of Lake
Barrington, Illinois; and grandchildren, Olivia and Emily Van Hammond,
Mitchell and Caleb Goerge and Isaac and Ian Audette.
A memorial
mass will be held at a later date.
