(Sunday - December
13, 2020) - Robert Thomas Rumpf passed into Heaven on December 9, 2020
surrounded by his family, at the age of 84; which is pretty good for an
old fella.
Bob was born at home in Kingsford on April 7, 1936 to
Genevieve (Willing) and Francis Rumpf and was raised on the family farm
in Aurora. He joined the Navy and proudly served on the U.S.S. Owen
during the Korean War. It was at this time at the ripe old age of 19
that he met and married the woman who would become his better half for
the next 60 years, one annual contract renewal at a time.
Bob
relocated his very young bride to Aurora where they began to grow their
family. Bob's job at Grede foundry brought them to several locations
around the country and in 1972 they returned to Kingsford where Bob
began his career as a State Farm agent. Bob happily settled into a life
of business, leadership within the community, raising his family and
enjoying every moment with Ina. Almost every story and certainly every
adventure began with and involved his beloved, Ina Bea. They enjoyed
extensive travels, many camping and canoe excursions with dear friends,
being snow-birds in Florida, parties, proms, golf tournament, support of
Special Olympics, very active memberships at the Chippewa Club, Rotary,
Elks and of course, his much-loved Pine Grove Country Club. Bob loved
Ina Bea and Bob loved golf.
Bob leaves a legacy of good humor,
keeping a positive outlook, the gift of forgiveness, the gift of service
to community, lifelong commitment to faith in Jesus, cherishing lifelong
friendships, enthusiasm for meeting the next new friend, the gift of
seeing the very best in every one he met, commitment to family and
absolute devotion to Ina Bea.
Bob is survived by his children,
Kathy (Dave) Timmons of Gig Harbor, Washington, Kevin (Raven) Rumpf of
Kingsford, Karol (Phil) Thomas of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, daughter
in law, Kelly Rumpf of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Derek Robert
Timmons, Jeff (Shantell) Timmons, Molly (Aubrey) Schermerhorn, Nicole
(Hugo) Gomez, Ash Thomas, Shannon (Matt) Collison, Ben Rumpf; great
grandchildren, Troy, Emilia, Christian and Catalina. Dear friend Donna
Schinderle.
Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister,
Darlene (Sis) Rumpf, infant daughter, Karen and his beloved Ina Bea.
A celebration memorial brunch is anticipated in May at the Pine
Grove Country Club.
God is our refuge and strength. Psalm 46:1
