December 09, 2020) - Maxine "Chickie" M. Maracini, 93, lifelong resident
of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, at Dickinson
County Memorial Hospital.
Maxine was born August 9, 1927, in Iron
Mountain, daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Wilson) Knutson.
Chickie was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1946. She was
united in marriage to Roy Maracini on October 21, 1950. He preceded her
in death in June of 2002. Chickie worked for the Wisconsin/Michigan
Power Company in her younger years. She was a very spiritual person and
attended the Lutheran church while growing up. Her family was very
special to her, and she cherished the time she spent with them.
Chickie enjoyed travel, shopping, knitting, golfing, volunteering for
St. Vincent De Paul, and her many cats and dogs she had over the years.
Survivors include two sons, Steven (Robin) Maracini of Crystal
Falls and Andy (Dr. Patricia) Maracini of Appleton, Wisconsin; one
daughter, Lisa Forsberg of Iron Mountain; one brother, Jon (Mary)
Knutson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Laura
(Christopher), Philip, Andrea (Austin), Isla, Alan, and Ginette; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and
husband, Roy, Chickie was preceded in death by one sister, Carol
Swanson.
A celebration of Chickie's life will be announced in the
spring. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
Chickie's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dickinson
County Healthcare System, the doctors, nurses and staff, for the care
and compassion they provided her.
