04, 2020) - Donald J. Mott, age 90, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday,
November 30th at his home.
Don was born June 20, 1930 in
Rochester, Minnesota, son of the late Elmer and Medora (Kaiserlik) Mott.
He was a 1948 graduate of Shawano High School. Don joined the United
States Army during the Korean War and was trained as a Combat Medic. He
served as a medic with the Army in Panama taking care of Psychiatric
patients and was honorably discharged in 1953. Don married Helen
Eastvold on August 16, 1952. While raising their eight children, He
worked as an LVN for the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center and later, many
years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service.
an active member of the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain and
participated in the Singing Strings and the Church Choir. Don and Helen
also acted as Foster Parents for many years. He was a talented handyman
and could fix anything. Don also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen on
November 24, 2017, his daughter, Deborah Anderson; four brothers,
Robert, George, Richard and Willard Mott; his son in law, David
Don is survived by his children, Donald (Nancy) Mott of
Aurora, Cynthia (Bruce) Strutz of Merriman, JoAnn (Gary) Boucher of
Springhill, Louuisiana, Diane (Gerald) Anderson of Ellsworth, Wisconsin,
Linda (Tom) Winer of Ada, Michigan, Jon (Donna) Mott of Stevens Point,
Wisconsin and Jeffrey Mott of Madison, South Dakota; son in law, Todd
Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sisters in law, Margaret Mott of
Shawano, Wisconsin and Harriet (William) Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa;
twenty three grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren; many
nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are being planned for
early summer 2021 and will be announced. Burial will be in the Quinnesec
