(Friday - November 27, 2020) - Adelaide 'Babe' Ruth Carr, 96, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 24, at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

Babe was born July 5, 1924 to the late Christy and Anna (Eggert) Hankey in San Pierre, Indiana. On Aug. 22, 1942 she married Lon Doyle Carr in Chicago. She enjoyed going to camp at Peavy Falls, where she had a large garden every year. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and snowmobiling in the winter. She loved her cats, Sissy & Sassy. Being with her family was her greatest pleasure.

Babe is survived by her daughter, Lynn LaVigne of Kingsford; two granddaughters, Stacy Black (Bobby) of Mount Dora, Florida and Andrea Carroll (Eric) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Zane Carroll (Aex) and Dillion Black (Brandi) of Florida, and Sarah Carroll of North Carolina; nephew, Henry White (Sadie) of South Carolina; sister-in-law, Marge Carr of Hermansville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Babe was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, son, Lon Earl Carr in 2020, sister, Elanara White in 2001, and a son-in-law, Dale LaVigne in 2005.

She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain and did volunteer work there for many years.

Burial with graveside services will be 1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 2 at the Niagara Cemetery in Niagara, with Pastor Paul Strom officiating.
