Michigan currently reporting highest
Covid infection rate in the Nation
(Saturday - November 20, 2021) - The fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic is accelerating in Michigan, with the state on Friday reporting 17,890 new infections over the past two days.

The seven-day daily average is now 7,654 cases, the second record this week. In just a week the daily average has risen more than 70 percent from just over 4,400 cases.

The state is now averaging 77 new cases for every 100,000 people every day, up from 44 a week ago. That is the highest rate in the nation, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The fourth wave started in Michigan in August, and it grew slowly as the virus pummeled other states.

The state’s hospitals are treating 3,661 patients for confirmed or suspected COVID-19, up 239 from Wednesday and 746 from last Friday, a 26 percent increase.

Hospitals across the state have reported crowded conditions because of COVID-19 patients that are affecting the delivery of care for all patients.

The state also reported 128 new COVID-19 deaths, including 124 this month.
