Iron Mountain City Council to hold
organizational meeting on Monday
(Sunday - November 14, 2021) - Under the City Charter, the Iron Mountain City Council must hold an organizational meeting following each Council election.

Under provisions of the charter, the organizational meeting will be called to order by City Manager, Jordan Stanchina. Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, the Manager will call for nominations for the office of Mayor.

Barring any unforeseen event, Council Member Dale Alessandrini is expected to again be elected to the post of Mayor. Alessandrini has served as the City's mayor for the past decade, and his other Council members appear pleased with the way he handles the post.

We were able to reach Alessandrini at "hunting camp" today. He said that while he expects to be re-elected as Mayor, "Anything can happen."

After being elected by a majority of the Council members, the Mayor will call for nominations for the office of Mayor Pro-tem.

Committee appointments will be made by the Mayor, following the organizational process.

Only one seat on the Council changed hands in the recent election.  Dave Farragh will replace Bill Revord in Ward two, after Revord decided not to seek re-election.  The only other newly elected member was Cathy Tomassoni.  She had been appointed to fill out the unexpired term of former Council Member Butch Shinderle, after he resigned from the Council.

(Our best wishes to the Mayor and his party for a safe, successful hunt.)
