(Friday - November 13, 2020) - Dolores M. Tunney, age 94, of Kingsford, passed away on October 14, at Manor Care Health Care Services in Kingsford.

Dolores was born on November 9, 1925 in Oconto, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Hector and Evelyn (Whiting) Belongia. She was raised in Oconto and graduated from Oconto High School in 1943. Dolores married Thomas Tunney on June 8, 1943 in Oconto. Together they operated a tree nursery and watch repair shop for many years.

Dolores was a kind and loving person who always made those around her feel loved and welcomed. She especially enjoyed visits and gatherings with family and friends. She was a member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford and the Daughters of Isabella. Although a hard worker, she found time to enjoy reading and having coffee with friends. Dolores was also very good at preparing and serving food that others thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; daughter, Eyelyn; son, Thomas; brother, Claude Belongia; and sisters, Marion Shufelt and Ruth Shufelt.

She is survived by her sons, Jerome Tunney of Holt, Michigan, Gene Tunney of Iron Mountain, and Gregory Tunney; brother, Vernon (Dorothy) Belongia of Green Bay; sisters, Jean Faulds of Oconto, Wisconsin and Karen (Clifford) Dembroski of Seymour, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Charles Geb, Delores (Geb) Christiana, Jill (Brian) Dujardin, Jenny (Matt) Essell, and Jimmy (Jamie) Tunney; great-grandchildren, Blake, Quinn, Asha, Charlie, Zack, Emily, Jessica, Lindsay, Evan, Cameron, Nolan, Hadley, Maya, and Emmie. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Patricia Tunney and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Dolores will be planned for a date in 2021.
