November 11, 2020) - Philip R. Johnson, age 80, of Florence, passed away
on Tuesday, November 10, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in
Iron Mountain.
Philip was born April 22, 1940, in Florence, son
of the late Rudy and Stella (Stabinski) Johnson. He was a longtime
resident of Florence and a graduate of Florence High School, class of
1958. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army
until his honorable discharge. On January 28, 1967, in Palmer, Alaska,
Philip was united in marriage to Darcia VanHaute. She preceded him in
death on March 17, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Ann
(Joe) Valdrow of North Pole, Alaska; two sons, John Johnson of Florence,
and Jess (Beth) Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren,
Dacey Johnson, Jamie Malone, Bailey Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Matthew
Johnson, Wade Valdrow, and Blake Valdrow; five great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Donald "Louie" Johnson and Jack Johnson; three sisters, Nancy
Podnar, Vivian Karle, and Marion Vassar; and by numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents
and wife, Darcia, Philip was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth
Paul; and daughter-in-law, Shelly Johnson.
Visitation will be
Friday, November 20, from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at the Jacobs-Lundholm
Funeral Home in Florence. The Memorial service will be held on Friday,
at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will
officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Commonwealth.
