Case numbers and deaths are up in Michigan as
Covid-19 and variants surge

(Sunday - November 07, 2021) - Any hopes we may have had that Covid would soon become nothing more than a memory have been dashed, as positive test rates for the virus are on the increase, as are hospitalizations and deaths across the State of Michigan.

On Friday, the State reported an additional 10,094 cases of the Coronavirus over a two-day period. That's an average of 5,047 cases per day. Deaths are also on the increase, with 83 new deaths reported thus far in November, and a total of 1,219 deaths for October.

The positivity rate among those being tested for the virus is also on the increase. Most recent testing has shown an average positivity rate of 13.1 percent.  That's up from 11.4 percent one week ago.

The latest surge comes after several weeks of falling numbers. The same trend appears to be occurring in other parts of the Country.

According to the latest figures, the surge is also taking hold in Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

Here are the latest figures for the 15 Upper Peninsula counties, as well as for three nearby Wisconsin Counties:
