Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Bock was called home to her heavenly father
on Sunday, October 24, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She
passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Betty was born on July 14, 1948, in Crystal Falls, to Rena and Patrick Printz; one of 5 children. She graduated from Florence High School in 1966 and then went on to attend cosmetology school in Boston. She then joined the Florence County Sheriff's Dept. in 1974, becoming the first female Sheriff's Deputy in the County, serving for 18 ½ years until retirement. Over the years she continued her community service and was actively involved with the Florence County Rescue Squad, Florence Fire Dept. Auxiliary, and served as the Town Board Chairwoman of Aurora, WI. She was also actively involved with the St Anthony’s Parish in Niagara, WI, serving on numerous committees including church council, Karen’s Food Pantry and St Vincent DePaul. Betty was a kind and giving person who was well known for her willingness to always help and support others, but in her free time, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children, Rena (Rod Arnhoelter) Nelson of Florence, Bill Nelson of New Orleans, and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Costa of Grover Beach California; her brother, Robert (Chris) Printz of Florence; her greatest joy, her grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Sarah, Megan, DJ, Jessie, Jamie, Adam, Nicki and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her many classmates and other close friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Bock; her sister, Nancy Printz; her brothers, Patrick Printz and Richard Printz; and her parents, Rena and Patrick Printz.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 27, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a 7:00 prayer service at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aurora. Father Quentin Mann will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.
