Colleen A. Lessor, age 89, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday,
October 17, at ManorCare Health Care Services in Kingsford.
Colleen was born December 16, 1930 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the
late Edward and Lola (Vansickle) Hayes. She attended school in Kingsford
and married Floyd “Buddy” Lessor on April 25th, 1949 in Kingsford. He
preceded her in death on October 9, 2003. Colleen worked at Garden
Village and the Kingsford Junior High School as a cook for over 26
years, retiring in 1993. She loved ‘her students’ and was proud to play
a small role in their school experience.
Colleen enjoyed picking
berries, making jam, cooking, singing, and more than anything, spending
time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the rock of
the family, loved by many, and made a huge impact on all the lives she
touched.
She is survived by her son, Rick Lessor (Tammy Labonte)
of Iron Mountain; her siblings, Joan Tinti, Lola Zawada, Mike (Dar)
Hayes, Pat (Bonnie) Hayes, Dina Hayes and Ginger Hayes; her
grandchildren, Tom (Kelly) Quick, Travis (Angelina) Quick, Nick (April)
Harwath, Lindsey (Brad) Cowling and Tye Labonte; great-grandchildren
Ashley, Cole, Kailyn, Connor Quick, Dylan, Paisley, Stella, Londin, and
Farah Quick, Jessica and Jason Harwath, Adyson and Michael Weber; two
great great-grandchildren; sister in law and special friend Beverly
Conery, brother in law Lenard (Betty) Lessor and many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death
by her daughter, Dixie Quick, son-in-law, Tom Quick, and two brothers,
George and Eddie Hayes.
The family would like to thank the
nursing staff at ManorCare for their care of Grandma. "A very special
thank you to Marissa who was by her side when her family could not be."
Private family services will be held.
