(Saturday - October 17, 2020) -
Margaret Steiner lived a full life (October 1934-2020).
In her
86 years she experienced a deep, abiding love with Joseph, her husband
of 67 years. She was a fun-loving mother and grandmother. Over the years
she was a mentor, teacher, and coach to so many of this community's
youth. She was a trailblazer and champion for girls athletics as she
formed and coached the first girls gymnastics and track teams as well as
volleyball teams for women and teens.
She was an exceptionally
gifted self-taught artist who shared that gift as an art teacher for
adults and children through the Dickinson County Community Schools. She
shared her flair for drama, song, dance and comedy as a member and
organizer of the Amidon Follies, an entertainment variety show performed
by our talented local seniors. Margaret's years of service to our
community was formally recognized by Governor James Blanchard and the
State of Michigan for her outstanding community spirit and her
contributions to public education.
Margaret lived her past few
years quietly in Manorcare however, the complications from COVID-19
proved too much for this little dynamo. Her family grieves deeply for
her and for all families whose lives have been impacted by this
pandemic.
At Margaret's request, private family services will be
held.
Condolences to the family of Margaret Steiner may be
