(Monday - October 12, 2020) - Judith A. (Tutas)Thompson, age 85, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, October 10. She undeservingly lost a battle against COVID-19 while a resident at the Iron County Medical Care facility in Crystal Falls. Her family was unable to accompany her at the time of her death and are heartbroken by the devastating effects this virus has on those who are most vulnerable and innocent.

Judy was born August 26, 1935 in Niagara, daughter of the late Arthur and Harriet (Phillips) Tutas. She grew up in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School, class of 1953. After graduation, Judy and her friends Betty and Lyle moved to Milwaukee, Wis., where she was employed at Northwestern Mutual for a short time. She then moved back to Niagara and Judy was married to Mike Thompson on August 8, 1955. They had four beautiful children together. In addition to raising her family, she worked in retail at Colenso's department store and was a server at the Blind Duck and Stables Restaurants. Judy was also an in-home health provider for many years. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and served as a worthy matron for the Order of the Eastern Star.

Judy adored her family, had a passion for taking care of others, and made meaningful connections with so many.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa (David) Celello and Marcia Thompson of Iron Mountain; two brothers, Arthur (Barbara) Tutas Jr. of Grand Rapids and Lawrence (Maryanna) Tutas of North Carolina; and her sister-in-law Fern (George) Tutas of Kingsford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley (Drew) Thomas, Joseph (Mallory) Celello, Miranda (Ramiro) Robles, Nick (Miah) Thompson, and Brooke Thompson; as well as her great-grandchildren Reece and Paige Thomas, Sophia Celello, and Olivia Thompson.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Jr. and Lawrence Thompson; her brothers George, Walter and Robert Tutas; and by her sister, Mary Ann Fergeau.

Her family has chosen to have a private celebration of life.
