John F. "Jack" Carlson, age 95, of Durham, North Carolina, formerly of
Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, at Hock Family
Pavilion in Durham.
Jack was born July 11, 1925, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota, the son of John W. and Florence (Miners) Carlson. He
graduated from Iron Mountain High School and continued his education at
the University of Michigan where he received his BS in Engineering. He
later became the Vice President of manufacturing at Hoskins.
Jack served in the Air Force during WWII, and was a proud veteran. Jack
regularly volunteered his time at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical
Center in Iron Mountain. In addition to his volunteering, Jack enjoyed
golfing at Oak Crest in Norway, gardening, cooking, and was an active
member of First Methodist church in Iron Mountain where he directed the
choir, sang, and played piano.
Jack lived independently until
the last 10 days of his life.
In addition to his parents, Jack
was preceded in death by two wives, Beverly Paradiso Carlson and later,
Geraldine Martinson Carlson.
Left to cherish his memory are his
two daughters, Kristine Barman and Deborah Badge, five grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Interment
will be at Cemetery Park. Due to the Covid virus, a memorial service
will be held at a future date.
