William "Bill" John Ozzello Sr., age 88, of Iron Mountain passed away on
Saturday, September 12, at Meadowbrook in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.
Bill was born June 21, 1932, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Peter
and Dorothy (Cowling) Ozzello. He attended Iron Mountain High School and
served his country during the Korean War as a U.S. Marine. He was a
life-long resident of Iron Mountain and worked for the Kingsford
Chemical Co., was a millwright and joined A.C. Hoyle Co., working there
for 21 years. During retirement he drove for Zeeb Trucking. Bill was a
post commander and a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 50. He
was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the Jesters.
You would frequently see him in the parade as "Goofy." Bill loved
nothing better than spending time at Pottsville or the Bird's Nest,
hunting and fishing with his best buddies.
Bill is survived by
his wife of 65 years, Marlene; his children, Cheryl (James) Christ of
Spring Grove, Illinois, William J. Ozzello Jr. of Winthrop Harbor,
Ilinois, and Donna (Jon) Mott of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; six
grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Redding, Joshua (Bridget) Christ, Jerod
(Vanessa) Mott, Jaclyn (David) Johnson; Kallie (Bruce) Kuhr, and Lindsey
Mott; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Daune Ozzello;
brothers-in-law, Wayne DeMeuse and Frank (Candy) DeMeuse; and
sister-in-law, Charlene Cerasoli.
Along with his parents, Bill
was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
A celebration of
Bill's life will be held on Friday, September 18. Visitation will be
from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Iron
Mountain with services to follow at 11:00 at the church. Pastor Walter Reichle will officiate.
Due to Covid restrictions, masks and
social distancing will be required in the church.
In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital
or the First United Methodist Church of Iron Mountain.
