Sjoberg, age 86, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, September 5,
at Florence Health Services in Florence. Earle, son of the late
Alvar and Catherine (Andrews) Sjoberg, was born in Iron Mountain on
February 8, 1934. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1951
and was a lifelong resident of the area. Following graduation he went to
work in the mines. He then took a position as a lineman with Wisconsin
Electric Power Company where he was employed for 35 years. Earle married
Laura Corey on February 9, 1996 and she preceded him in death in 2001.
As a young man, Earle enjoyed ski jumping at Pine Mountain. He
continued his enthusiasm for skiing as a downhill skier and an active
member of the Kiwanis Ski Club for many years. He was also a member of
the Elks Lodge. Earle enjoyed bowling and spent many Friday nights at
bowling league. More than anything, he loved the outdoors, particularly
hunting, fishing and spending time at Camp Valhalla. Earle took great
joy in attending his grandchildren's athletic events during their high
school and college years.
Earle is survived by one son, Craig
Sjoberg (Karen Alanko) of LaCenter, Washington; one daughter, Cheryl
(Tom) Schorman of Iron Mountain; his grandchildren, Sandra (Sheridan)
Seale and their son, Rhys, of Seattle, Washington; Bryan (Jeannie)
Schorman and their sons, Brandon and Zackary, of Richmond, Michigan; and
Alyssa (Brock) Wallis and their children, Talia, Eli and Lakyn, of
Kingsford; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his
parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and
Kenneth.
Private family services will be held. Burial will take
place in Cemetery Park.
