07, 2021) - Elsie M. Neuens, age 88, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday,
April 6, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.
Elsie was born July 12,
1932, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, daughter of the late Thure and
Gertrude (Troutman) Asplund. She grew up on their family farm in Suring,
Wisconsin, and graduated high school from there. She married Robert
"Bob" Clarence Neuens on October 20, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Aurora. He preceded her in death on September 24, 2017. Elsie
worked in the office at Standard Service and Supply, which later turned
into Michigan Air Gas in Iron Mountain, for over 30 years before
retiring. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and
the Aurora VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Elsie enjoyed camping, fishing,
hunting, especially birds, and spending time with her large family,
which included numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Don (Janet) Neuens, Doug (Cheryl) Neuens,
Dean (Shelly) Neuens, and Daryl (Jodi) Neuens, all of Aurora; one
daughter-in-law, Lori Neuens of Florence; one sister-in-law, Joanne
Berutti of Iron Mountain; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous
great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her
parents and husband, Bob, Elsie was preceded in death by one son, David
Neuens; one brother, Robert Asplund; and two brothers-in-law, Norman
"Butch" Neuens and Thomas Berutti.
Visitation will be held on
Saturday, April 10, from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Aurora. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday
morning at 11:00 at the church. Rev. Fr. Michael Lightner will
officiate. Burial will be in Aurora Cemetery.
