(Monday - February 22, 2021) - Governor Gretchn
Whitmer's office announced on Saturday that the Governor had declared a
"state of energy emergency," which is intended to ensure adequate
delivery of propane to the State during the Nationwide cold spell.
The executive order exempts motor carriers and
drivers who transport propane and heating oil from compliance with
maximum weekly driving and on-duty limits. The order takes effect on
Saturday and will remain in effect through Sunday, February 28.
In December, the Governor ordered the Spring shutdown of Line 5 under
the Straits of Mackinac, which supplies propane to about 15,000
households in the Upper Peninsula, citing it as an environmental risk.
State regulators said that at this point, there do not appear to be
any serious gaps in propane delivery within the State.
