(Monday - February 08, 2021) - Dickinson County's
long time Clerk, Dolly Cook, will retire at the end of this month, after
more than thirty years serving the citizens of Dickinson County as
County Clerk / Register of Deeds.
Cook was just re-elected to
another four year term in the 2020 November election.
While no
official reason was given for her decision, recurring health problems
over the past several years have been making it increasingly difficult
to function in the very demanding position.
The announcement,
which was made to the County Board of Commissioners at their Monday
evening meeting, came from County Controller / Administrator, Brian
Bousley.
Bousley said that the County will immediately begin
advertising for the position, and that he will begin interviewing
candidates as soon as possible.
By State statute, whomever
Bousley recommends for the position will have to be approved by the
County's Circuit Judges.
Whomever is selected for the position
will have to run for election to the office in the 2022 election cycle.
All members of the Board of Commissioners expressed their
appreciation to Cook for her many years of service. All said they will
miss her input and her expertise.
Cook said she will remain
available to assist in whatever way she can, as long as she is needed.
