15, 2021) - Gwenllyn Joy Johnson, age 89, of Kingsford passed away on
Saturday, January 9, in Wildwood, Florida.
Gwen was born in Iron
Mountain on June 4, 1931, daughter of the late Vincent and Gladys
(Knickerbocker) Cuculi. After graduating from Channing in 1949, she
attended beauty school in Chicago. She married Harry Harwath in 1951 and
they had two daughters. He preceded her in death in 1983. A lifelong
resident of the area, Gwen owned and operated the Randville Bar for over
30 years. She married Clayton Johnson on December 8th, 1984 and he
preceded her in death in 2011. She worked in the kitchen at the Crystal
Lake Senior Center from 1985-2011. In her free time, she enjoyed playing
Solitaire, watching The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and she
especially enjoyed bowling. She had a love for playing Smear and
Cribbage and was always up for a game of either. She was a loving
daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunty, niece, and a special friend
to many. She will be remembered for her spunk, being quick witted, an
extremely hard worker, and an all-around genuine person.
Gwen is
survived by her two daughters, Cheryl (Doug) Richer of Iron Mountain and
Terri (John) Burgelbaugh of Kingsford; two stepsons, Mike (Mary Jo)
Johnson of Green Bay and Bob Johnson (Carol) of Kingsford; a brother,
Dale (Maxine) Cuculi of Hartland; grandchildren, Kelly (Lee)
Steinbrecher, Dustin (Tori), CeCe and Sabrina (Brett), Jason (Sarah) Ott,
Austin, Landon, and Autumn, Mike Ott (Jen), Michael Jr and Tyler, Nick
(April) Harwath, Jessica and Jason, Lindsey (Brad) Cowling, Adyson and
Michael, Blake Johnson, Sara Johnson, Angela (Andy) Coan, Drew and
Brooklyn, Bryan (Amy) Johnson, Jaxen, Brant, and Nash, Courtney
Burgelbaugh, Leah, Aubrey, and Lanie; a very special friend, Carol
Fontana; sister-in-laws, Gladys Olson, Catherine Driscoll, and Verna Mae
Chapman; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death
also by her sister, Geraldine (Roger) Pirlot; brothers-in-law, Richard
Johnson, Don (JoAnn) Johnson, Charles Driscoll, and Kenneth Olson;
sister-in-law, Betty Stebbins; and grandson, Brett Johnson.
Pallbearers will include Jason Ott, Michael Ott, Nick Harwath, Bryan
Johnson, Blake Johnson, and Dustin Steinbrecher.
A funeral mass
will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 29th at American Martyrs
Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of
Christian Burial. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery in the spring.
