(Iron Mountain - November 28, 2017) - The Dickinson County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved funding levels for the various senior citizen programs in the County, most of which operate in cooperation with the Dickinson Iron Community Services Agency. The only organization which does not cooperate with DICSA is the Norway Vulcan Senior Citizens Center, which broke with the parent organization more than a year ago, after disputes over meal distribution.

These funds are generated by special millage (0.4 mils per $1,000.00 of taxable property value) assessed County-wide to support senior citizen activities.

The funding levels approved by the Board are as follows:

DICSA - $248,940.00
Crystal Lake Senior Center - $39,144.00
Breen Avenue Senior Center - $23,400.00
Sagola Senior Center - $23,400.00
Felch Senior Center - $6,552.00
Norway Vulcan Senior Center - $34,794.00

The amount allocated for the Norway Vulcan Center is expanded by virtue of the fact that they now handle their own meals program, following the dispute mentioned earlier in this article.

County officials stress that these numbers may change, depending on funds availability.
