(Lansing - October 29, 2017) - Governor Rick Snyder has announced the appointment of Denny Olson, current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Charter Township of Breitung, to the State's World War One Centennial Commission. The purpose of the commission is to commemorate the centenial of the war in Michigan.

Olson (pictured above), has served on the Township Board for 14 years. In addition to serving as the Township Chairman, he also serves as the Chairman of the Dickinson County Townships Association. Olson is a member of the Michigan Township Association, the Great Lakes Timber Professional Association and the Michigan Association of Timbermen. He is also the owner of Olson Sand and Gravel, and operates a logging truck. He is a U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.

The Commission will be housed within the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs and is tasked with submitting a report suggesting ways to commemorate Michigan's part in the first World War.

Olson is one of eleven individuals appointed to the commission by the Governor.
