DR. ROBERT J. TRETHEWEY, D.O., AGE 69, OF IRON MOUNTAIN, PASSED AWAY
PEACEFULLY AT HIS HOME ON THURSDAY, MARCH 8th, FOLLOWING AN ILLNESS
(Iron Mountain - March 09, 2018) - Dr. Robert J. Trethewey, DO, 69, of
Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his home
following an illness.
Dr. Trethewey was born November 7, 1948 in Kansas
City, Misssouri, son of the late Robert and Connie (Proctor) Trethewey.
Following high school, Bob attended the University of Health Sciences in Kansas
City and Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine where he completed his
education becoming a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
Bob married Judith
Savaloja on April 9, 1983 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron
Mountain. He was employed by Dickinson County Healthcare System for 30 years as
a Board Certified Emergency Department Physician, retiring in 2009. He had the
honor of receiving a Physician of Excellence award. Dr. T or T-Wey, as he was
fondly referred to by his colleagues in the E.D., was truly a man who dedicated
his life to helping others. His kindness, humility, and compassionate care were
evident to his coworkers and patients alike. He was a member of the American
Osteopathic Association. Bob was an avid gardener and loved flowers. He even
hybridized his own peonies. He enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, taking
pontoon rides and feeding & watching birds. He loved spending time with family
and his grandson, Brayden was his pride and joy.
Bob was surrounded in
love by his wife of 34 years, Judy; his daughter, Alexa Trethewey-Kleikamp of
Green Bay and her son, Brayden; two sisters, Kim (Rod) Becher, nephew, Dirk of
Arkansas and Sydney Isle of Missouri; a sister-in-law, Sharon Affolter; a niece,
Laura Johnson (Ryan) and three grand nephews and nephew, Ryan Affolter.
At Dr. Tís request there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, a
memorial will be established in his memory.
