IMPROVEMENTS AT PINE MOUNTAIN TARGET OF AMENDMENTS TO THE COUNTY
RECREATION PLAN APPROVED BY COMMISSIONERS FOR 2018 & 2019
(Iron Mountain - February 27, 2018) - Following a public hearing at
which there was no public input, the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners on
Monday approved an amendment to the County's Recreation Plan for this and next
The amendment calls for improvements to the pathway to the scenic
outlook, to make it ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant; the
construction of ADA compliant rest rooms; construction of a new "coach's landing
with ADA access; educational kiosks showing the history of jumping at Pine
Mountain and points of interest that can be seen from the scenic outlook; and
finally, a lodge which can be used for special events and as a warming area for
While the Board approved the amendments, none of this will
happen without the receipt of grant money. However, the amendment had to be made
in order to initiate the Michigan DNR grant application process.
