SYSTEMS AT COURTHOUSE & JAIL FINALLY OPERATING AS
(Iron Mountain - February 27, 2018) - After more than two years of
engineering and re-engineering, the new heating and cooling system at the
Dickinson County Courthouse and jail appear to be performing as expected.
The County Board of Commissioners heard a lengthy report at their Monday
night meeting, from representatives of the Trane Company.
for the project was awarded to Trane in 2015. The installation was complicated
by the necessity to retain the historical look of the courthouse.
one recent cold spell, an audit of the system's performance showed it was not
able to maintain desired temperatures in parts of the County jail.
Sheriff Scott Ritter reported to the Board that those issues appear to have been
When questioned, County Clerk Dolly Cook said that her office
is now warm and comfortable. The Clerk's tiny corner office has always been too
cold during the Winter and too hot during the Summer.
In addition to
increasing comfort for both employees and visitors, the new system will result
in substantial energy savings, both gas and electrical.
