BETTY M. MASS, AGE 88, OF KINGSFORD, PASSED AWAY ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY
17th AT MANORCARE HEALTH SERVICES IN KINGSFORD
(Iron Mountain - February 19, 2018) - Betty M.
Massa, age 88, of Kingsford, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at
ManorCare Health Services.
She was born
February 5, 1930 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Ronald and Pauline (Alleva)
Ackerman. Betty married George Massa on September 28, 1947 in Iron Mountain and
he preceded her in death on April 14, 1990.
For many years, Betty woke up early in the
morning to prepare authentic Italian foods for the Northside T&T and later
homemade pastas for Romagnoli’s.
Gramma Betty loved spending time with her
family and was her grandsons’ most loyal fan, no matter the game. She also
adopted and cheered for countless others over the years, becoming “Gramma” to
everyone. Betty was well known for giving long, tight hugs.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Melanie (Jan)
Groeneveld of Kingsford; three brothers, Steve Ackerman of Kingsford, Albert
(Rita) Ackerman of Texas and Donald (Virginia) Ackerman of Wyoming; a sister,
Pauline Bolan of Las Vegas; two grandsons, Justin Groeneveld (Jessica) of
Kingsford and Jacob (Britney) Groeneveld of Concord, North Carolina; two great
grandchildren, Madison and Aubrey Groeneveld; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and
parents, Betty was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carol Ann; a son
Rodney Massa; a grandson, Jordan Groeneveld; two brothers, Ronald and Nick
Ackerman; and two sisters, Antoinette Brault and Yvonne Sauld.
