SHERIFF REPORTS DROP IN DAILY BOOKINGS AT COUNTY JAIL DURING MONTH OF DECEMBER 

(Iron Mountain - January 07, 2018) - After holding steady at 3.6 prisoners per day during October and November, the daily booking rate at the Dickinson County Jail dropped to three, according to the monthly activity report issued by Sheriff Scott Rutter. This brings the daily average to 3.4 prisoners, down from 3.5 for the previous three months. During December, the average daily census at the jail was 72 prisoners, which is the jail's capacity.

Sheriff Rutter also reported that the department's Road Patrol served 85 civil process papers; investigated 96 complaints; handled 56 accidents; issued 31 citations and 64 verbal warnings; made 20 arrests, eight of those for outstanding warrants; made 175 property checks and made three mental health transports, one each to Rhinelander, Kinross and Marquette.

The enhanced 911 Dispatch Center handled 633 (911) calls; 2,949 non-(911) calls; 1,461 calls for other law enforcement agencies; 309 calls for ambulance service and 79 calls for fire service.

The Sheriff's Work Van logged 338 hours for the month of December, and performed work at the following locations:
Dickinson Iron Community Services Agency, the Sheriff's office and Courthouse, the Northern Lights YMCA, the Dickinson County Welcome Center, the Almost Home Animal Shelter, the St. Vincent DePaul facility, the Veteran's Memorial at Pine Mountain, the Caring House, the Dickinson County Historical Museum, the Cornish Pump and Mining Museum, the Pine Mountain ski hill and the Salvation Army.
