(Iron Mountain - January 03, 2018) - Henry Wender (R-Dist 4) was re-elected to another term as Chairman of the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners, at the Board's annual reorganizational meeting held on Wednesday morning. Immediately following the vote, Wender was given the oath of office by Dickinson County Clerk Dolly Cook. Cook opened the organizational meeting, acting as Chair until a Chairman was selected.

Wender, who has spent a total of nearly 30 years on the Board of Commissioners, was elected on a unanimous vote by his fellow commissioners.

Wender told Dickinson County News that his primary goal for the ensuing year will be to maintain the budget, which is under continuing pressure both on the revenue and expenditure sides of the ledger.  Wender said the County will also be involved in the likely transfer of the County Health Care System to Bellin Health.  He said the Board will have to do everything in it's power to insure that this transfer works for the benefit of the residents of the County.

Commissioner Joe Stevens (R-Dist 1) was re-elected as Vice-Chairman of the Board.

Both will serve in those positions for the ensuing year.

The Board set the days for regular board meetings, maintaining the current scheduled of 6:00 PM on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

After a brief discussion regarding committee appointments for the year, the board agreed to allow the Chairman to make adjustments as necessary.
